Batteries Directive

Stricter rules on batteries and accumulators for UK businesses will be introduced by the end of September 2008. The new legal obligations will mean stricter rules on recovery and recycling and improvements to the environmental performance of all new batteries on the market, and will apply to all batteries, regardless of their shape, weight, use or chemical composition.

The new rules will affect any business that produces, supplies, or disposes of batteries and accumulators.

This page will be updated when details of the rules are published.
